Anstruther Solar System Walk

We’re taking a trip on Sunday 21st August, over to Anstruther for an astronomy-themed walk, followed by a picnic.

  • Arrival time in Anstruther 11am.
  • Park in the East Basin car park. This is opposite the Tourist Information Office on East Shore.
  • We will then split up into small groups and head West along the shore, spotting the plaques for the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Pluto is on Dreelside, so if you go further West than that, you’ve gone too far. Neptune is the trickiest to find, so you might need to do a little bit of exploring.
  • After finding the plaques, return to the car park for a beach picnic. Fish’n’chips and ice cream are available on Shore St, or you can bring a packed lunch.

This event is free. Children welcome with responsible adult. Advance booking is not required. Round-trip walking distance is about 1 mile.

There is a carpooling thread on the forum.
