Another Solar Day ?

Postby justanotherpete » 12 Aug 2013, 19:03

Metcheck were tempting us with the possibility of a sunny Saturday afternoon on August 24th, although that's now been changed. Assuming it might turn out to be a reasonable day, would there be any interest in another Solar Day at the Elgin Hotel, Limekilns probably starting (weather permitting) around 1230 - 1300?

If you are interested in coming along please add a reply below. If there's enough interest we can go ahead and let the Elgin know later this week.

If you have replied below please keep an eye on this thread as it's very weather dependent.

Would be interested again Pete - even as a good excuse to lounge about in a sunny pub garden with "refreshments & nosh " on hand :D

There was three of us last time, me, Chris & Iain, had a great afternoon :)
Hoping to try and run these meets monthly through the summer (weather permitting) so that the club also caters for its solar members.

Andy and my brother in law Kevin also came along and my two kids. Not club members but they still managed to get a few really good pics of the solar flares using only their Iphone's.There were also alot of "Wow's" from the ladies and gentlemen from the Elgin hotel who had a look at the sun through the scopes with a variety of different filters. Probably going to jinx the good weather but the weather report says its going to be mostly sunny and 21 !

According to BBC & Met Office it looks like the weather reports are pointing to cloudy with a 20% chance for rain / showers, so no solar day this weekend :(
Anyway patience is a virtue, she's probably also an astronomer, hopefully we'll get a chance for a day in Sept before the club starts up again.
