Looking good! Is it a six inch mirror? And what is the focal length?

Hi Chris, yep 6" and about 45" FL, although I need to confirm that, so F6'ish. See below for more.

Reflector Refurb Pics (2)

Confirming the focal length (FL) of the mirror before drawing the light path out to scale.

An image of some distant object is focused on a piece of white card (see below) then just measure the distance between the mirror and the card. This mirror's FL is 44.76" (1137.0mm).

You look like you are having fun there Pete! All very technical. It is going to be a similar spec to my 6" grey scope so with a dark sky you should be able to photograph the Horse Head Nebula :D

It's only going to be an alt-az mount for this one so photo taking opportunities might be a bit limited. Managed to pick up some cheap bits on Astro Buy sell that should help with building this and the other club 6" which I hope will be EQ mounted.

Nice small, lightweight 1.25" rack & pinion focuser picked up from UK Astro Buy & Sell for use on this telescope.

Also picked a 4 vane spider and a 36mm flat from UK Astro Buy & Sell. The vanes were a little too long but have been straightened out and taped to mark the position of the new 90 deg bends required to fit the square tube.
