Postby Opel star » 31 Mar 2013, 16:14

At last a clear night! I managed to get a couple of pics of saturn last night with the DSLR :D Only managed to get out after 11pm last night but it was super clear and Saturn just got higher and brighter the later it got(and colder!)

Congrats on the pics :) Very chilly on Saturday night as well, finally got some alignment success, Saturn was a bit wobbly in the eyepiece being low down and over the next street's houses, but it had the occasional steady moment, very nice.

Thanks Pete, makes a difference getting some clear skies over your observatory for a change! Very happy to get Saturn , I thought it was going to be too low in the sky from my house. It was meant to be clear tonight but it doesn't look like it will clear up soon :(

Sweeet!
Done with the big Celestron, I'm guessing?
Did you use prime focus, or eyepiece projection?

Thanks John, very happy to see the Cassini division and a little cloud detail :D Saturn is at opposition on the 28th of this month so hopefully I can get more detail soon if we get some clear nights!

Hi Paul, I was using the celestron C11 With the Dslr. The best pics I was getting were with no lens or barlow just straight onto the scope. The barlow made the image darker so I had to turn up the ISO on the camera to compensate which made the image grainier!
Thanks Chris
