Hi. Yesterday I was out observing the Sun, in particular the large sunspot group AR1429. I noticed something peculiar in the largest (westmost) spot of the group and attempted to capture it using my digital camera. The results were rather less than wonderful, but I have attached a couple of pics for you to look at.
What I saw was a thin light-coloured filament reaching from the spot's 11 o'clock position in towards the centre - I'm guessing maybe a filament of material being drawn in along a magnetic line? It is just visible on the first picture - taken at 11:30 am - if you magnify it slightly. The second picture, taken about 3 1/2 hours later, shows the same area. The filament was fainter, though still visible, but appeared to have shifted slightly to the right.
Post your pics here, or questions about how to take pictures.
