Re: LX90 astrophotography

Hi Brian, I don't have any experience with the LX90 or similar, but like you I have a Sony DSLR (mine's an Alpha 350), and a T-ring and adapter. Focusing is difficult, but I have a few tips: ⋅  Use your highest available ISO (e.g. 3200) for your focusing trial shots, then switch to a lower...

Re: Saturn last night

Sweeet!
Done with the big Celestron, I'm guessing?
Did you use prime focus, or eyepiece projection?

Braefoot - Sat 30/3?

Forecast looks clear for tonight.
I'm thinking of heading down to Braefoot for about 7.30pm.
Anyone else up for it?

Re: meeting 26/03/13

Hi Chris,

I'll lend you the collimator, and (if it's a Newtonian) I'll give you any help you need.
If it's not a Newtonian, you can still have the collimator, but you're on your own using it.

See you Tuesday,
P.

Re: meeting 26/03/13

I have a laser collimator I could bring along.
If you bring your scope, we might be able to sharpen it up a little.

Re: Comet Panstarrs

I'll be going along about 6pm tonight (Mon 11th) and possibly tomorrow too.
Weather looks possibly halfway encouraging.

Re: newbie who needs little help

Hi Lorna,

We are a very beginner-friendly club, and often have practical telescope workshops.
Please do bring your scope along on the 26th - we can set it up and give you some tips,
and if it's clear, we can take it outside and help you find some things in the sky.

Clear skies,
Paul.

Re: Asteroid 2012 DA14 – Fri 15th Feb

I'll bring a scope, as well as some bins on a tripod.
I shelled out for SkySafari Pro, which is a mobile app that can track DA14 (Stellarium gives dodgy positions for it, unfortunately).
The SkySafari positions seem to agree very closely with the JPL Horizons numbers.
See you there,
P.
