Re: COMET ISON VIEWING SESSION (hopefully!)

Sounds good to me.
ISON's a long shot, but you've got to try. Comet trajectories seldom change much on fragmentation, but brightness is famously unpredictable.
Should get decent views of the Moon, Saturn and Mercury before ISON rises.
See you there about 6.30am.
Paul.

Re: Hi from Glenrothes

Hi Chris,

We welcome beginners here, and at every meeting there are people willing to help you get started with a scope. Also, three or four times a year, we have telescope workshops where we devote the whole meeting to swapping practical tips.

See you at the Kabin,
Paul.

If you can't make it to the meeting for whatever reason, it is your responsibility to make sure Priti ...

November Meeting - volunteers needed.

On Tue 26/11 I'll be picking up our guest speaker Markus Hundertmark from the railway station before the meeting and taking him for something to eat at Louie Browns. I'll bring him over to the Kabin at about 8pm, for an 8.15 start to the talk. Lorna Black has already kindly volunteered to take over ...

Re: Astronomy Apps for Sony Xperia mobiles?

I use Sky Safari Pro - it's not free but I think it's well worth paying for.
Let me know if you want to give it a try on my phone before you part with your readies.

I also have the free version of SkEye.

Re: LX90 astrophotography

Hi Brian, I don't have any experience with the LX90 or similar, but like you I have a Sony DSLR (mine's an Alpha 350), and a T-ring and adapter. Focusing is difficult, but I have a few tips: ⋅  Use your highest available ISO (e.g. 3200) for your focusing trial shots, then switch to a lower...
