Well, the polls have closed, and everyone who expressed a preference either wants the rank system changed or removed. I've kinda gone off it myself. So, bye bye for the time being at least to the ranks.
If there's an outcry, I'll open a new poll to re-enable them.

Telescope setup night

As announced previously, our next meeting will be on Monday 15th January, and will start at the Bay Inn at 7.30pm. Unlike the last two meetings, though, we're hoping it won't be entirely indoors. If the weather isn't too bad (even if it's cloudy), we'll go out after about an hour and set up our scop...

Ranks

Hi Bob, The rank system is mainly a bit of fun, but on large mature forums it allows newcomers to quickly distinguish between veterans and other newcomers. To quote the <a href="http://www.phpbb-design.com/faq/install_ranks.php">PhpBB-Design</a> website: To classify its members by ranks is something...

Code colour

Hi Neil,

Yes, slight mix-up there.
(Good bug report, by the way - made it very clear where the problem was and how to reproduce it.)
It seems it was getting its CSS styes from the wrong place.

Should be sorted now.

The Admin.

Rank system

I've added a rank system, which ranks members by the number of posts they've made. Ranks are: <table> <tr><td>5+</td><td>Asteroid</td></tr> <tr><td>10+</td><td>Dwarf Planet</td></tr> <tr><td>20+</td><td>Planet</td></tr> <tr><td>40+</td><td>Star</td></tr> <tr><td>80+</td><td>Galaxy</td></tr> <tr><td>...

Dunfermline Press

Hello to anyone who saw us mentioned in today's Dunfermline Press. Due to a slight typo in the web address, you'll have come into the site by a roundabout route, so you won't be seeing our normal front page, but if you go to http://dbastro.myfastforum.org , you'll be there. Do have a look around our...

Oops

Neil Newman was the first to spot the other mistake - where it said "right to left" it should have said "left to right".
Now corrected above.

Yes, putting images in the gallery is fine, and they will be visible to all registered, logged-on users. You can make them appear inline by using the same kind of code as you would for images stored anywhere else on the web, so your Jupiter image (of which I am slightly jealous, by the way) can be l...

Dunfy Press

We're not in DP this week, and I got a phone call today to say it likely won't be next week either. Early January looks likely. I told my colleague the photographer had been round and he asked if it was the first time I'd had my picture taken for a newspaper. "Second" I responded. "Ay...
