Venus

Here is last night's crescent Venus. The seeing wasn't wonderful, but I thought it was a fair enough result

Should be ok for that, but I'll confirm nearer the time - I may be working in the morning/early afternoon.

Spot the....what?

Hi. Yesterday I was out observing the Sun, in particular the large sunspot group AR1429. I noticed something peculiar in the largest (westmost) spot of the group and attempted to capture it using my digital camera. The results were rather less than wonderful, but I have attached a couple of pics for...

Here they are: http://www.pbase.com/ryohei/image/141310580 http://www.pbase.com/ryohei/image/141310582 The ...

Clear Skye(s) my a**e

Sadly, the perpetual raincloud hardly lifted at all, except for a few hours when my daughter was getting married.

Better luck next time (visiting Skye I mean, not my daughter's marital status....)

Clear Skye(s)

Hi I am going to be on Skye for a few days (Monday 19th-Friday 23rd September), and if I can get away with it I will be packing my Skywatcher 150PL. Where I will be staying on the island, the nearest "built-up" area - Broadford - is about 8 miles away so light pollution shouldn't be a huge...

Hi Paul Apologies - I will not be able to come along to the September meeting after all. My daughter is getting married on Skye later on in that week, and it appears I have (been) volunteered to go up to Skye on Monday 19th with some of the things needed for the Big Day. Wonder if there'd be space f...
