Re: Astro Pics of 2018

Although its not astro photography per se, every Friday BBC Scotland's web-page posts a selection of sometimes stunning Scottish scenery pics sent in by viewers etc. This week... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-46061956 Makes one wonder what the "rejects" even must be like for the &...

Very bright MARS - 17 Sep 2018 2130 hrs

Driving down into the Bay tonight from the north, Mars showing unusually bright and large Don't know if its a seeing effect with the warm air coming up on the tail of ex-hurricane Helene or something. Seemed so "large" and "low" over Edinburgh / south-southwest despite the very h...

2018 Perseid Meteor Shower - underway

Peak this year due on the nights of August 11/12 Sat/Sun and 12/13 Sun/Mon,
however already ramping up.

Under almost clear sky last night (Wed) got a big cream-ish Earthgrazer coming
in from the East approx 11:07 PM - view direction - over Paul's house! :D

Re: Solar Day

Thank you Darren et al for the efforts of organising the solar day.

A really nice sunny afternoon...which I'll probably remember better
after all these painkillers and stuff wear off! :)

Dr Davies Talk 12th December

Excellent talk last night from Dr Davies

And some of it so up-to-date (about 2014 MU69 double-object status)
as to have only appeared on the BBC news text this morning!

Thanks Paul for managing to "bag" guest speakers of such high calibre :D

Re: Anstruther 2016 Solar System Walk

A very pleasant "Ainster" harbour/beach sunny day at its very best.
And "thank you" to Kirstie & Paul for the lift and organising the day out :D

Re: Anstruther 2016 Solar System Walk

May I bag one of those spare seats in the car please Paul? Also, do you need bringing e.g. a couple of small tri-pod picnic seats or anything like that for the beach or harbour wall? (I'm assuming from past experience that the big iron public seats etc can be choc-a-bloc on a nice Sunday weather-wis...
