Green Flash #2!

Last December, I posted about having observed my first-ever green flash - after almost exactly 40 years of observing! Well, last Saturday I saw my second - one year and two days after that first one. As before, the flash was a very vivid lemony-green, before a split second's intense green. Guess the...

Excellent image, George .... just out of interest, I've been taking images of constellations (eg Orion, Gemini) just with a hand-held compact digital camera (8mp) - ie no tripod or anything - set on ISO. Was amazed to get anything .... but, for example, the whole of Orion shows up, except for the Sw...

AstroFest 2009 - #2!

Being an unapologetic Anorak of the First Order, I was thrilled to be treated to a trip to both days of this year’s AstroFest (never let it be said that men are rubbish at getting you what you want for your birthday!) It was an excellent two days, with lots of different papers covering everything fr...

Astrofest 2009

Hi all -

is anyone going to Astrofest in February?

I'm going to be there both days (although probably not all of the Saturday), so it would be cool -  8) - to catch up with anyone who's coming down.

Cheers,
Emma

Item 6 - AOB

I would like to propose a formal vote of thanks to the Committee and all volunteeers who have worked so hard to make the Club such a success in its first year.

It's a privilege to be a member of such an active and enthusiastic Club, and I'm looking forward to the next 12 months.

Thank you!

Hi everyone - just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU, for the lovely gifts which arrived, with perfect timing, on Christmas Eve! It was such a lovely surpise and much appreciated. I have to say, in spite of never having been able to make it to a meeting, I feel more a part of DBA than I have any other ...

Star of Bethlehem

There’s a documentary about the Star of Bethlehem on Christmas Eve, BBC2, 5.30pm.  According to the Daily Mail Weekend magazine, “This interesting seasonal documentary reveals how modern-day astronomers are searching for answers” to the age-old question of what the Star of Bethlehem really was....
