I'll get there for 5.45 too and probably have room for one or two. Paul N

Comet Lovejoy

Hi, Tonight I finally got around to taking some photos of Comet Lovejoy. They're not quite as sharp as I would have liked but you can definitely make out the tail :-) http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/600x/0b/14/93/0b149374cee7571b59bab32b2ed32693.jpg http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/600x/ba/78/ca/...

Re: Paul's Winter Challenges

Thanks guys! Chris, no I didn't use a focal reducer it was straight out of the box as it were. That's the nature of the scope I guess, wide field to fit in DSO's etc. but with lower mag but hopefully high quality images. That's why I'll need a good Barlow to get closer to planets and other objects. ...

Re: Paul's Winter Challenges

The police were very friendly and I explained who I was associated with! But point taken for future reference. As for the picture I'm not sure what's happening there. I tried to upload the file as an attachment, which shows as "Andromeda.PNG", but it doesn't seem to have been uploaded. I'v...

Paul's Winter Challenges

My first chance to tackle Paul's recent challenges. I went upto the Braefoot Terminal car park last night and between visits from a local running club and the police took the following of M31 and M110. 60 exposures of 30 secs each stacked using DeepSkyStacker. Pretty pleased with my first attempt at...

First new committee meeting

Hi, Can some one tell me when the first meeting of the new committee is taking place? Unfortunately I don't seem to receive any emails from the club. I've checked the email in my profile, which is correct, but thought I would change it in case there was a problem with AOL accounts. However, when I c...

Thanks Chris. Can't wait for the next clear night so we can point it at some DSO's.

Jupiter

Hi all, As it was a clear last night Sandy and I took out our new refractor and pointed it at Jupiter. Using a Philips SPC900NC webcam we took several videos; 2000 frames at 10fps and after processing in Registax 6 came up with the following. We were really pleased with the result! Our first sightin...

Re: Touch Primary School

Hi, Sandy and I will be there but due to working in Edinburgh won't be able to make 5pm, though we'll try to be there in enough time to set up for 6pm. Failing that the kids will get a good idea of how to quickly set up a scope!
