The Scotsman, Dark Skies Scotland

Today's Scotsman has a piece about an Executive-funded event in Feb-Apr 2008 called Dark Sky Scotland. It's being promoted by the Deputy First Minister, no less.
The piece was written by Steve Owens, astronomer at the Glasgow Science Centre.

Scotsman online subscribers can read the article here. For non-subscribers, I'll cut it out and bring it along to the next meeting on Feb 5th.

Dark Sky 2

There is an article in the Sunday Herald along much the same lines, at http://www.sundayherald.com/life/...ar.1137014.0.new_sky_thinking.php I will also cut this out and bring it along. It references the darkskyscotland.org.uk site, plus places such as the Galloway Astronomy Centre, at www.gallowayastro.com and the Paramount Stirling Highland Hotel, which has an observatory in the roof. This was refurbished in the 70s by chums of mine at school. www.paramount-hotels.co.uk
