Solar Prom from 1st MarchThe Sun's coming back! Here's a prom taken this morning 1st March. Despite the wind and cloud it turned out ok.

image of solar prominenceI'm really impressed with this image - how did you achieve it? Is it a white light image, or is it Hydrogen alpha? Either way, I would like to try this out.

It's a H-alpha image taken with a Cornado SM40 & BF 5 filters, William Optics 80mm Apo and a mono SPC900 Toucam. Sun's still low so in a few months when it's more overhead I should get a bit more of the finer detail.

PS Don't try and take images of the sun or try and view it without appropriate filters!!!!!!
