Some people just get all the luck, don't they? (I mean Ian, not Twinsen!!)

Solar B: bearing in mind solar activity, when's the best time to head off in that direction, thinking of the Northern Lights, etc??

Hi Emma
It will depend upon the amplitude of the next cycle (24)
An active cycle should see solar max around oct 2011
A moderate cycle should see max around august 2012
So i to will be going aurora spotting during the next max , i,ll be keeping a close eye on SC24 so i will let everyone know when max is due.

Thanks, Brian - I spotted an ad in the paper for a flight to try to spot the Northern Lights this November. Guess it would be worth putting it off for a few years?

Has anyone been on one of these Northern Lights flights? Are they any good or are they the travel equivalent of all those "Fantastic 1557x magification telescope" ads?
