Dundee Trip - Fri 17th OctWe have a joint meeting with Dundee Astronomical Society (DAS) at the Mills Observatory, Dundee, on Friday 17th October at 7.30pm.
Catherine Heymans, from the Royal Observatory Edinburgh, will be giving a talk entitled "The Violent Lives of Galaxies".
David Paterson, Secretary of the DAS, writes
| Quote: | | Meetings start at 19:30 in the Mills Observatory, and the guest speaker is usually the first item (after a few brief notices). Talks are usually approximately an hour long, including any question and answer session. This will be followed by a refreshment break, and then other short presentations by society members. If you have anything interesting to show, such as astro images, interesting news items, or even a short talk, we'd be very pleased to give you the floor. |
David has also asked for a rough guide to numbers, so please post below if you think you'll be able to go, indicating the number of people in your party.
Nearer the time, we can arrange some car pooling.

Hi George,
Consider it booked.
Would you be able to get to Dalgety Bay railway station for 6pm?
If so, we'll pick you up there.
See you on the 17th,
Paul.

Dundee TripA really great night. Talk by Catherine was very good indeed and both of my kids said they learned so much from the presentation.
A really big thank you to all who organised this very worthwhile trip. We relly enjoyed the tour of the Observatory afterwards.
Only downside was being given a bum steer by locals to find the Observatory.
We were directed to the South entrance and had to park up and walk through the park which entailed a very tiring climb up the darkened dirt and wood stairs and a half mile trek to the venue.
I can't thank the kind member who gave us a lift back to the car as there were numerous Yobbos in the dark wooded area. Sorry I forgot your name but I believe you moved from the Bay to Dundee so maybe other members know who you are.
I enjoyed giving my presentation to the members and it seems to have been enthusiastically recieved.
regards
Cosmic
